Join Certified "Guided Autobiography" instructor Karen Bovie to begin your journey into autobiography and memoir through this series of classes. Recall and record episodes from your life using a different thematic prompt each session. Share your work with the other members of the group.

Introductory 2-Hour Seminar January 19, 2020, 2:00 to 4:00 PM

C. Burr Artz Public Library, 110 East Patrick St., Frederick, MD, 301-600-1630

This workshop provides an introduction to Guided Autobiography and to how the program works.  You will learn about: the purpose and process of guided autobiography; memory-jogging techniques; how to explore life themes and use priming questions to organize your narrative; tips for mining the ‘good stuff’ buried inside the big picture. You will not be doing any writing during the workshop, but there will be an exercise that demonstrates the importance of sharing life stories when using the Guided Autobiography method.  This workshop doesn’t take the place of the full series of group sessions, but participants should leave with some insights and tools you can use in furthering your own process.
